21 jobs at risk after announcement of Scunthorpe Wilko closure

A total of 21 full-time and part-time jobs are at risk following the decision to close down the Wilko departmental store in The Parishes mall, Scunthorpe,in August.

The closure after more than 11 years of trading is said to be due to poor trading results.

A Wilko spokesman said: "We will do our best to relocate team members, where they are able, to other stores in the region.

"We are also offering professional support and guidance to help them get through this difficult time.

" We can reassure customers that this is not part of any larger programme of store closures, and the decision to propose a closure of the Scunthorpe store has been made due to continuing poor trading results in spite of the best efforts of everyone at the store and the expiry of the current building lease."
