Hessle’s new £3.9m ergo business centre is to officially open its doors next week as part of the Humber Business Week.
The centre, operated by East Riding of Yorkshire Council in partnership with the University of Hull, will offer office and conference space targeting renewable and ‘green’ businesses.
Local businesses are being invited to come along to an open day at the centre on Wednesday, June 6 between 10am-3pm, to have a look around the new facility.
The ergo centre will officially open its doors with a special ceremony on Tuesday, June 5.
Councillor Stephen Parnaby OBE, leader of East Riding of Yorkshire Council, said: “The ergo centre open day is the perfect opportunity to come along and see what this amazing new facility has to offer your business.
“Our staff will be on hand to answer questions and show you around and we will also have a number of exhibitors providing a range of goods and services designed to make businesses greener.”
The ergo centre forms part of the Bridgehead business park in Hessle.
The whole site has the potential to support up to 3,000 jobs in its lifetime.
A trendy new café – opened by the brains behind Hull’s Butler Whites restaurant – has already opened its doors in the ergo centre.
Mo’s Kitchen café offers a range of tasty treats and snacks, and is open to the public as well as the business community using the site.
The official opening, and open day, of the ergo centre coincides with the Humber Business Week, which showcases the region’s talent.
Amanda Hoggart, business centre manager, said: “Humber Business Week showcases the wealth of talent, entrepreneurship, vision and future potential of the region – so it is only fitting that ergo should officially open against such a backdrop.
“Interest in the centre is growing and we look forward to officially opening our doors and providing a series of guided tours during the open day.”
Residents at the ergo centre include Green Port Business Support Team and Team Humber Marine Alliance.
As well as an opportunity to tour the new building next week, those attending will be able to discuss ways of reducing their own carbon footprint and become more energy efficient with exhibitors.
