Forty jobs are up for grabs in Hull as Heron Foods announces its biggest ever recruitment drive.
The company is currently undergoing a rapid expansion following its £152m takeover by B&M last August.
Heron, which has stores across the North of England, Midlands and Wales, is now looking to recruit hundreds of new staff throughout Yorkshire, including forty in and around Hull.
Tony Dobbs, managing director, said: “At a time when many other retailers are struggling or downsizing their operations, we want people to know that we have loads of great opportunities for careers, and importantly development and progression.
“We provide a unique working environment. We have retained a small business ethos, yet we can promise a fast-paced, innovative and exciting workplace for anyone who joins us.
“We would encourage anyone to submit an application as soon as possible to ensure that opportunities aren’t missed.”
The jobs on offer include 15 senior positions, and a host of part-time sales assistant roles.
The first batch of jobs have already been released, with more opportunities being rolled out between now and July.
The company has said it is keen to attract local talent, and is seeking staff in a range of roles throughout its operation, including its warehouse and distribution site in Melton.
Heron Foods has also teased customers with plans to open new stores in Yorkshire this year, but exact details have not yet been released.
The frozen, chilled and grocery chain was bought by discount retailer group B&M last year for £152m.
Fiona Dawson, HR manager at Heron, said: “We are looking for enthusiastic candidates with the will to progress and who have the drive to achieve results.
“We have positions available right now, including store management, duty management, senior sales assistants and part-time sales assistants. We offer competitive salaries for all of our roles, together with a generous store discount at both Heron Foods and B&M.
“No matter what their background, we’re keen to find strong food retail managers who can support our business growth while developing and promoting our junior managers.”
Heron Foods opened its first store in 1979 in Holderness Road.
Today, the company employs more than 3,500 staff within its stores and its support centre in Melton.
In 2017, Heron Foods bucked industry trends by opening 14 new stores, and now trades from a total of more than 255 stores.
