Following on from last year’s first ever ABP Humber Coastal Half Marathon, the port provider has once again pledged their support for a bigger and better race in Cleethorpes on Sunday 16th September 2018.
Entries for the eagerly anticipated event were released February 2nd – keep an eye on the event social media sites for updates and information on how to secure your place.
Last year’s inaugural race saw the first 1,000 places being sold out within 53 hours and with a promise of an ice-cream and flake for every finisher, the team from Tape2Tape, who are once again organising this year’s event, will be putting 2,000 places up for grabs.
After taking into consideration feedback from runners, the route for the 2018 ABP Humber Coastal Half Marathon has been slightly altered however, participants will still be sent through the Haven Holiday Park in Cleethorpes, who will host the first water station with a team who are looking forward to supporting the race for the 2nd year in a row.
With the success of the local Park Runs in the region, a brand new 5k course has also been added to the half marathon route which will enable new runners to join in with the excitement of being part of an organised race. With only 500 places made available, you’ll have to be fast to secure your place.
ABP Humber Director, Simon Bird said: “Last year saw the whole community come together to cheer on the runners and we’re all looking forward to welcoming an even bigger crowd this year. Everyone taking part managed to raise thousands of pounds for their desired charities whilst having fun at the same time. Needless to say, we’re extremely proud of have our company name associated with this fantastic event.”
The 1 mile Family Fun Run, open to all abilities and ages will be sponsored by St Hugh’s Hospital and will allow runners to take in the wonderful sights and sounds of Cleethorpes seafront.
Nicola Pattison, Race Director from Tape2Tape said: “We are very excited to continue working closely with the great team at ABP to host the 2nd event in September this year. We were blown away with the amazing support from runners, local traders and the community who came along to support the event in 2017, making it a great success and with the addition of a 5k race this year, it makes the event more accessible to runners of all abilities”
Nicola added: “If you are thinking about entering this event, don’t wait too long as we’re certain that places will sell out!”
