Family-owned Beal Homes has been named Housebuilder of the Year in the prestigious Insider Yorkshire Property Industry Awards.

Beal claimed the prize at a ceremony celebrating the very best in the Yorkshire property sector, staged by the publishers of Yorkshire Business Insider magazine.

The awards judges hailed East Yorkshire-based Beal as “a worthy winner as a family-run housebuilder with impressive financials that is really in touch with the local area”.

The Housebuilder of the Year category is a new addition to the annual awards, reflecting the ever-growing importance of the residential property sector in Yorkshire.

The judges chose Beal for the award ahead of a strong shortlist of entries from Berkeley DeVeer, Conroy Brook, Redrow Homes and Strata, in a category sponsored by planning and design consultancy, Pegasus Group.

The award was presented during a ceremony at the Royal Armouries Museum in Leeds, compered by television presenter Mark Durden-Smith.

The winning Beal entry highlighted the company’s achievements as a family-owned housebuilder that has remained independent and delivered sustained growth.

The entry also focused on Beal’s commitment to quality and personalised service, true to the company’s vision “to create exceptional homes as individual as our customers”, as well as its positive impact on the community through direct employment, supporting local suppliers and sub-contractors, and backing local good causes.

The award is the latest accolade for Beal – the company also holds the Yorkshire Residential Property Awards Housebuilder of the Year prize and was named Large Business of the Year in the 2016 Hull Daily Mail Business Awards.

Chairman and managing director Richard Beal said: “We’re delighted and honoured to receive this award, especially as the judges have recognised our strong commitment to supporting the local community.

“The award is a great tribute to the superb staff we have right across the business who go out of their way, day after day, to create exceptional homes and deliver excellent customer service. It’s also a recognition of the vital contributions made by our development partners, contractors and suppliers.

“Above all, this award and our continued growth is due to the fantastic support and loyalty of our customers. They are at the heart of absolutely everything we do.”

Among other winners in the Insider Yorkshire Property Industry Awards was Hull City Council, which was named Local Authority of the Year.

The award is given to councils that have “effectively supported development, driven growth and aided commercial operators to complete developments across all sectors of the marketplace”.

The judges praised Hull City Council for “the scale and quality of the public realm works in the city, along with the regeneration of the Fruit Market and the launch of Siemens’ wind turbine plant at Green Port Hull”.
