Beauty clinic and salon open in huge new Hull city centre development

A beauty clinic and a salon have opened as the first new stores in a newly developed £6m complex in Hull city centre.

Beauty and aesthetic clinic ReShapeU and beauty salon House of Lashes & Brows are the first tenants in the multi-functional K2 complex developed on the site of Kingston House in Bond Street.

The companies have moved into renovated retail units on the ground floor of the 90,000sq ft development, which will officially open in early 2018.

K2, which is being developed by Beverley-based firm Tradepark, will eventually house a 100-bed hotel, 14 luxury serviced apartments, offices and retail and leisure space, with plans to include a restaurant, gym, bar and a café with rooftop terrace.

Jolita Shishmanova and business partner Olga Konone, who own House of Lashes & Brows, moved into the new premises in early November and are already seeing a positive impact on business.

Ms Smishmanova said: “K2 is proving the perfect place for the salon.

"Not only is it close to our previous premises in Caroline Street for our existing customers, but its location has a great footfall, meaning we are attracting walk-ins and increasing our client base.

“We’re looking forward to the rest of K2 opening in the new year and the new business opportunities it will bring for us.”

Sean Scott, managing director of ReShapeU, said: “The move to Bond Street marked ReShapeU’s first anniversary. We’d experienced a growth in demand in our first 12 months and we needed to expand. K2 provided everything we were looking for in terms of space and location.

“The surrounding area is undergoing significant regeneration, so it’s an exciting time to be at the development.”

Tradepark Ltd purchased Kingston House via NPS in August. Work began on site in September via principal contractors MLS Group, with the first office space due to be ready in the new year.

Mark Butters, director at Tradepark Ltd, said: “One of the most exciting parts of any property redevelopment is when the first tenants start moving in and trading.

“We’re delighted to welcome Jolita, Olga, Sean and their teams to K2, and to hear how their businesses are thriving in our newly-revamped retail units.

“Since we announced K2, we’ve been inundated with enquiries and busy organising viewings – sometimes up to three a day.

"We can’t wait to complete the office space and welcome tenants there in the new year.”
