Champion jockey opens new ladies' fashion shop in North Lincolnshire

A new shop was opened in North Lincolnshire by a 'champion' jockey.

Sassy Boutique on Epworth High Street is a new store selling ladies' fashion. It opened its doors last Thursday (February 1).

Owner Sarah Hall-Tinker has relocated the shop from Wentworth, near Rotherham, after eight years of trading in the village.

The former Miss Lincolnshire and Miss Gainsborough moved to Haxey a year ago and said she "always wanted a shop on the high street".

It was opened by Bob Champion MBE, an English former jump jockey who won the 1981 Grand National on Aldaniti. He is known for battling cancer and getting told he only had months to live, before going on to win the Grand National.

He has had a film based on a book made about him where actor John Hurt played him, and he works for the Bob Champion Cancer Trust.

Sarah is good friends with Bob and met him through her love for horse racing. She used to produce showjumping horses that went all over Europe.

Bob said it was a pleasure to open the shop in the village and thought the boutique would serve the community well.

"It's a lovely little boutique," he said.

"I think ladies will like it when they come out shopping and there has been a good response to it.

"There are some very nice dresses, shoes and other outfits.

"Hopefully there will be more customers to come."

Before she opened the shop in Wentworth, Sarah was one of the top models in the north and appeared in television adverts and commercial work for Boots, Vision Express, DFS and Argos.

She has also previously appeared in magazines such as Take A Break and Maxim.

Speaking about Sassy Boutique, Sarah said: "It is all ladies' fashion. It is all European – Italian, French and English. Everything from cheap things right up to expensive things.

"Bob is a very close friend of mine. He has so many things nationally going off and it is an honour for us to have him come and open my shop.

"Epworth seems perfect. There are lots of nice places and it seems a really good area."

The store is open Tuesday to Saturday from 10am to 5pm.
