Ten Cristal employees were honoured for long service to the company at their annual 25 Year Club celebration.

The company, which has operated in Stallingborough for over 60 years, hosts an annual ceremony to recognise those who have worked for the firm for 25 and 40 years.

The so-called '25 Year Club' currently has 377 members, and this year welcomed five more. The company also recognised 40-year achievements for five further employees.

Sid Prime, 66, was recognised for 40 years of service at the annual dinner at the Humber Royal Hotel.

He said: “I have got a lot to say for Cristal. They took me on when times were hard when I was young they employed me when I was 25 and I can honestly say I haven’t looked back.

“They have looked after me, such a brilliant firm to work for."

Sid retired from his role in the storeroom in September, a year later than he could have. This is a decision he believes proves just how incredible the firm is.

He said: “I can honestly say in 40 years, I loved my job.”

“I haven’t got a bad word. They have looked after me and are such a good firm to work for."

Louise Taylor, 46, was presented with a 25-year award after working in the financial department since she was 20.

She said: “It’s a good company to work for, the people are brilliant. The company cares a lot about you and offers flexibility with working.

“It is just a wonderful place to work for, really.”

Cristal is the world's second-largest producer of titanium dioxide, a bright white pigment used in the production of paint, plastics, and paper.

This year, 142 25 Year Club members attended the dinner at the Humber Royal Hotel to celebrate their new members.

A spokesperson for Cristal said: "Cristal has a long history of providing employment for local people and is proud of the long-serving members who have helped to grow the business to its current level, with many of them working through from the apprenticeship schemes to professional, technical and managerial status."

"This year five new members joined the esteemed 25 Year Club, and another five members achieved their 40 years’ service awards which is a phenomenal achievement and clear demonstration of their dedication to the company.

“Our greatest asset is clearly our people who are passionate and dedicated people, all working collaboratively to make this plant a success.”

25 year achievers: Geoff Wyatt, Louise Taylor, Andrew Pettit, Simon Clayton and Dave Cioni.

40 year achievers: Sharon McLachlan, Karen Taylor, Sid Prime, Terry Kirman and Andy Mickleburgh.
