Deliveroo and Hull's Nightel Express hotel will bring Gingers Café food direct to your door

Whipping up a nutritious meal after a long day at the office can be the last thing on a busy worker's to-do list.

It can be all too easy to reach for a fast-food menu, though a takeaway is often not the healthiest option.

To bridge the gap, a Hull hotel has now added to the growing list of business delivering restaurant meals direct to people's doors.

Nightel Express in Hedon Road, east Hull, has teamed up with Deliveroo in a bid to make ordering 'home-cooked' food as easy as ordering fast food.

Branded as Gingers Cafe, which is part of Nightel Express, all dishes are cooked to order in the hotel kitchen by 365 Catering, the catering company that works with Nightel.

Paul Green, owner of Nightel Express, said: "Gingers Café is really popular with local people and workers on the ports who come in at lunchtimes because they know they can get tasty, healthy food.

"That gave us an idea. Takeaway food is usually the most convenient food to order in the evening, but it is not always the healthiest option, especially if you eat it regularly.

"We decided we wanted to give people a wholesome alternative, cooked to order from fresh, local ingredients."

Deliveroo was launched in 2013 and operates in the UK, across Europe and in Australia, Singapore, Dubai and Hong Kong.

Food is ordered via the Deliveroo app, which can be downloaded onto a smartphone, or directly via the Deliveroo website.

There are now more than 18 other venues across the city offering the service, including McCoys in Princes Dock Street, Tapasya in Beverley Road, Handmade Burger Company in St Stephen's Centre, and The Hull Pie.

Ginger's Café will deliver to the east of the city near to the hotel, as far as Victoria Dock, the Marina and the city centre.

Mr Green said he choose Deliveroo because they partner with restaurants rather than fast food takeaway outlets.

He said: "We decided to go with Deliveroo because they are known for working with restaurants that supply top quality food, and that is what we are offering."
