VITAL advice on social media and cyber security will be delivered by experts at two free events in Grimsby and Louth.

The seminars, entitled ‘Are You Digitally Prepared or Digitally Scared? are hosted by professional service providers Wilkin Chapman and Forrester Boyd.

Both take place on Tuesday, July 11, with a focus on protecting businesses in the social media sphere, making tax digital, cloud accounting and cyber security. The speakers are Katie Davies, partner at Wilkin Chapman solicitors; Alan Nesbitt, partner, at Forrester Boyd; and Stuart Green, managing director at Market Rasen's SJG Digital.

The first seminar is at Grimsby Institute. Registration is at 7.45am with an 8am start and a 10am finish. The second event, will be held from 11.30am until 1.30pm on the same day at Louth Playgoers' Riverhead Theatre.

Mrs Davies said: “Social media is a powerful marketing and communication tool.  However, when things go wrong reputations of both employers and employees can be damaged. The seminar will provide delegates with a clear insight into the legal implications of social media in the workplace.”

As part of both seminars, she will go through recent case law decisions and explain, in layman's terms, the reasoning behind them.

Tax and the digital world is something that businesses across the country will have to focus on in the future and Mr Nesbitt will be giving the benefit of his expertise and experience. He will also demonstrate how businesses and landlords can use cloud accounting solutions to fulfil their tax obligations and improve business performance.

Finally, Stuart Green – the driving force behind SJG Digital – will be advising delegates on combating the increasing issue of cyber-crime.

Tickets, free of charge, are limited to two people per organisation and can be booked at
