No loose change or hard-copy timetable and fed up of never knowing when your bus will arrive?

Well, now Hull bus passengers will be able to buy tickets and track their buses direct from their pocket, thanks to a new app.

The EYMS Buses app, available now on any smartphone, aims to "revolutionise" travel for East Yorkshire commuters by making it easier than ever to keep up to date on the bus network.

EYMS commercial manager Bob Rackley said: "We believe this new app will transform the way people will travel around the region, as well as helping many people save money on travel costs."The free app, which allows travellers to buy tickets, plan journeys and track buses direct from their smartphone, will give passengers all they need to catch a bus.

There are even some ticket options available only on the app – with cheaper fares for buying through their phone.

You will also be able to buy either with a credit or debit card – something you cannot do when you buy a ticket on the bus.

Mr Rackley said: "Buying your bus ticket through your mobile is so convenient, as you can use your credit or debit card, and some tickets are cheaper on the app too."

He said the app has been brought out after trialling a small pilot of people. He said: "We've been trialling the app with a small pilot group for some time, and everyone who's tried it has said how easy and simple it is to use."

Hull resident and bus-user Pete was one of the people who took part in the pilot. After using it for several weeks, he said it "really helps" when travelling around the area.

He said: "The app is a great idea, and works perfectly.

"Finding your way around the menu is simple, and it's so easy to use that even my five year old nephew was able to use it to plan a journey. I love the bus tracker, as it means I spend a lot less time waiting at the bus stop, and it's definitely going to make my life a lot easier."

The EYMS Buses app is available now from the App Store and Google Play.
