Mental health in the workplace can be handled empathetically and successfully. That is the message being shared at an annual conference to be held in North East Lincolnshire next month.
Fortis Therapy & Training, an independent mental health service provider based in Grimsby, is preparing to host 'Surviving or Thriving? Mental Health Fitness in the Workplace', a day-long conference for Managers, Chief Executives and Employees across public and private sectors. This is the latest conference from the award-wining business, who have made the event an annual occurrence due to increasing demand.
During the day, delegates will hear presentations covering a variety of current topics including 'Are ill health absences causing you a headache?' presented by Wilkin Chapman LLP, 'Making stress management standards work', presented by Matt Howard of NEBOSH, and 'Developing psychologically informed organisational cultures' presented by Alexis Powell-Howard, Director of Fortis Therapy & Training.
Alexis said: “More and more people are suffering with depression and anxiety, which can manifest in the workplace. If you haven't been signed off by a doctor, going to work can be incredibly difficult.
“But now, more people are talking about it and admitting that they want help. There's a lot of people engaging in public conversations and awareness campaigns. So we've built on our previous conferences to organise an event for anyone who works in or manages a workplace that will cover all different aspects of mental health.”
In addition to presentations, delegates can attend two of four informative and interactive workshops; 'Understanding and managing anxiety', 'Is it the load that breaks you down, or is it the way you carry it?' and 'Creating a coaching ethos' presented by Fortis Therapy & Training therapists and associates, and 'Why do we do the things we do?' facilitated by Performance Psychologist Alan Searle.
The event is taking place at Oaklands Hall Hotel on Thursday 16th November, 2017, and is for HR Managers, Chief Executives, Managers, public sector staff and social workers as well as therapists and counsellors – anyone who works in a workplace.
Early bird discounts are available, with conference prices varying. Booking is essential. For more information, contact Fortis Therapy & Training on 01472 241794.
