HBP Systems achieves top ten status for data protection expertise

Humber region IT company HBP Systems has just won accreditation as one of the best companies in the UK to help firms deal with GDPR – the elephant in the room of cyber security for 2018.
The company, which has offices in Scunthorpe and Hull, is one of fewer than ten companies in the country to win accreditation as a gold-standard partner for Synchronised Security from software provider Sophos.
“It’s a massive boost for us,” says the company’s Operations Director Tony Pearson. “It tells everyone that we have the highest degree of expertise in providing cyber security, which is something every company is going to have to address before the General Data Protection Regulations become law in May.”
Synchronised Security is the latest generation of weapons to combat cyber attacks. It works right across networks to protect all of the devices on them – servers, desktops, laptops and even mobile phones. It allows them all to communicate with each other and collaborate for mutual protection. Said Tony: ““It’s protection that makes cyber security as co-ordinated as the threats it has to deal with, giving law-abiding companies the edge over attackers.”
HBP Systems regularly sends its employees on courses to make sure its engineers are able to provide the best advice to clients. “Two will be going on courses before the end of this month,” said Tony. “It’s all part of our duty of care to our clients, to whom we feel a significant responsibility. We’re proud to have been singled out by Sophos as a Gold partner, which is a recognition of how must they trust us to provide the best cyber security using their products.”
Tony said he was worried by the number of firms who were not yet even aware of the GDPR regulations, much less meeting their obligations under them. “All clients hold some kind of client data that the regulations say is sensitive, and requires protection. They must all take positive action sooner rather than later,” he added. “We’re ready to help as soon as they wake up to the fact.”
