The owners of Hull FC and Hull KR have joined forces to open up a new £1m sports bar.
The Tribal Bar and Grill will be built between Chiquito’s and the Harvester Oyster Catcher pub off Gilbraltar Way at Kingswood Retail Park.
Papa’s Fish and Chips will also open a takeaway restaurant as part of the development, which has just been given planning permission.
The new bar will create more than 30 jobs and will take nine months to a year to build.
Hull KR owners Neil Hudgell and Rob Crossland have teamed up with Hull FC owner Adam Pearson for the new venture as part of CHFP Developments Ltd.
Mr Hudgell said: "We are delighted to bring the Tribal brand to life and into Hull, combining our collective sporting and events experience to a venture. We expect to deliver a top class mix of food, music and entertainment.
“This is much more than a rugby or football venture as we look to host a range of sporting events from across the globe in both a large main venue space with smaller break-out areas.
“We are looking to appeal to families in particular and giving them an all-round quality experience in surroundings complementing the exciting work going on in and around Kingswood."
Mr Pearson has also expressed his excitement at the new bar and restaurant.
He said: “I am absolutely delighted. I think, in Kingswood in particular, so many people live there and need such a facility.
“We want to bring all the sport and top quality entertainment with good food and good ale.
“The name tribal comes from the sport rivalry but it will be a friendly place where families and come and enjoy themselves as well as other groups.
“It will also be a place where sports players in the city will hang out as well.
“We had considered Humber Street but we felt Kingswood was the right place.”
Papa’s is also looking forward to opening another venue in East Yorkshire.
A spokesman said: "So many people had said to us that Kingswood needed a Papas Fish and Chips, so we can't wait to be serving up the UK's best fish and chips in Kingswood very soon."
Papas opened its first restaurant in Willerby which proved a huge success. This year the chain has opened another restaurant at Bilton and also its biggest outlet in Cleethorpes.
The fish and chip shop sold more than 10,000 portions in one day in March during a 1p giveaway, after being named Britain’s Best Fish and Chip Shop on BBC’s Britain’s Best Takeaways.
The Tribal Bar and Grill will be the bigger of the two food outlets and there will be parking for more than 50 vehicles.
