Humber Business Week inspires the next movers and shakers in world of work

By Hull Daily Mail | Posted: 8 Jun 2017

Some of the region's leading entrepreneurs headed to Sewell Studio to inspire the next generation of movers and shakers.

Business leaders met with a team of young people at the Leads Road setting, to offer advice, answer questions and give them an insight into the world of work.

The event, held in partnership with the Princes Trust, was designed to help fledging young entrepreneurs prepare for the next step on their career paths, by giving them the opportunity to brush up on their interview techniques, perfect their CVs and find out what skills are required once education makes way for employment.

Across the other side of the city, hundreds of business figures flocked to the Costello Stadium in Anlaby Park Road North for the launch of the Chamber Expo.

The two-day event continues today and featured almost 100 stands, with businesses ranging from AA Global and ASR Rating to F&T Vending and Leeds Bradford Airport, together with speed networking sessions and complimentary Wi-Fi.

Phil Ascough, president of Hull and Humber Chamber of Commerce, said: "The first day of the Expo has been really busy; we have had a really good turnout."There has been a great cross section of businesses, including a lot who have not been before, together with some who come here every year.

"The atmosphere has been lively and there is a lot of networking going on."

And at the KCOM Stadium in west Hull, delegates had an insight into how the sports venue provides a unique classroom for pupils and students.

The event was organised by Hull law firm Rollits, and guests saw first-hand how the Run With It education centre, based at the stadium, brings to life subjects ranging from maths and English to film making and photography.
