JOB opportunities for women in the manufacturing and engineering sectors were showcased at an event in Scunthorpe.

The Women into Manufacturing and Engineering (WiME) careers day took place at the Humber University Technical College (UTC) in the town centre on Saturday (October 21).

It was held by Green Port Hull and was the first WiME event to take place on the south bank of the Humber.
Visitors on the day were given the opportunity to meet women already working in the manufacturing and engineering sectors.

There were also chances to find out about current vacancies, discover what training and qualifications are needed, and learn about apprenticeship opportunities.

Around 20 companies, including Scunthorpe-based British Steel, attended the event.
Big international firms such as BP, EDF Energy and Dong Energy UK were also looking to inform women about their projects in the region.
