KENWICK Park Spa has won an inaugural Lincolnshire Construction & Property Award.
The leisure facility close to Louth was judged to be the best build in the Under £5 million category, seeing off close competition form Auto-Trail’s huge expansion on Europarc.
That project, delivered by North Killingholme’s Cube3 Construction and Scunthorpe’s CR Parrott, was highly commended.
Evergreen Spa was built to replace the original Kenwick spa, devastated by fire in October 2014, with Lincolnshire builder Gelder behind it.
Opened in June, the £4.5 million site features new fitness suite, pools, 10 treatment rooms and luxurious lounge areas.
One of the most striking elements is vaulted hall which houses the 20m pool under an impressive timber ceiling. It was designed by original architect Alan Wood & Partners, together with Nettleham practice LK2, a specialist in sports and leisure.
After re-launching last summer, Kenwick Park managing director Stuart Flynn said: “This is exactly what we’ve envisaged. I believe we’ve made the most of a very bad situation.”
University Technical College, Lincoln, saw off tough competition from Cartergate House, the new Wilkin Chapman head office, delivered by owner North East Lincolnshire Council, partner Engie and Gelder to take the ‘Over £5 million’ prize.
Television personality Charlie Luxton presented the event at Lincoln’s Engine Shed.
