A subsidiary of Tata Steel that supports economic regeneration in areas hit by industrial changes is supporting growth at a Hessle firm.

Intrasource says it is planning to grow its workforce by 50 per cent in 2017 following the £150,000 investment from UK Steel Enterprise.

The East Yorkshire headquartered IT services firm has earmarked the cash to bolster its sales and technical teams.

Allan Wood, regional executive at UK Steel Enterprise, said: "Intrasource has continued to operate at the cutting edge of its sector since it was established in 2000, with a strong management team in place that has helped to cement its reputation for excellence within the IT services arena.

"With further growth and expansion plans afoot, this equity growth investment will help the business grow its team and offer its services to a growing number of business with staff based both here in the UK and further afield."

UK Steel Enterprise is the subsidiary of Tata Steel tasked with helping the economic regeneration of communities affected by changes in the steel industry.

Backed by the government's Regional Growth Fund, it works in 'steel areas' across the UK, assisting job and wealth creation by supporting small and medium-sized businesses with finance and premises.

Mr Wood said: "We wish Intrasource every luck during this exciting time."

Intrasource was established in 2000 and offers business-to-business IT support, phone systems, cloud services and IT consultancy to a range of sectors.

The firm recently underwent a management buyout spearheaded by operations director Dave Collings and technical director Matt Nunns.

Mr Collings said: "IT is an ever evolving industry, and this investment will help us to ensure that we have the necessary team in place to manage our growing customer-base whilst continuing to build on our reputation for excellence within the sector."

UK Steel Enterprise provides business support and advice to new and existing businesses, as well as loan and equity finance of up to £1m to existing companies that are growing - particularly those creating jobs.
