New refinery boss impressed with professional and committed team

THE incoming general manager of Total Lindsey Oil Refinery is looking forward to leading a team of “very professional and very committed” employees.

Jean-Marc Durand will take the helm from Jacques Beuckelaers, who has served for nearly five years, as reported on Friday.

Arriving in northern Lincolnshire from Antwerp, Belgium, he said: “I am proud to be joining the refinery, there are some great people who work here, very professional and very committed and I look forward to continuing our success.”

The French national arrives as a £33 million investment continues, following the major transformation and restructure that saw the North Killingholme refinery become a single stream operation, with headcount reduced from 580 to 400.

He will oversee 50th anniversary celebrations, with the plant having come on line to process North Sea oil back in May 1968.

Jacques Beuckelaers, who is working through a handover period with Mr Durand before taking up other responsibilities in the Total group, said “It was a busy time, and we all worked together to make our refinery stronger and better. I wish Jean-Marc and the teams a bright future.”
