New zoo opens today in North Lincolnshire

A new North Lincolnshire zoo is opening its doors to the public today.
Messingham Zoo is a family-run business on Butterwick Road, with Iain and Alex Gouldthorp at the helm.
Animals at the zoo will include raccoons, pot-bellied pigs, Flemish giant rabbits, emus, barn owls and meerkats.
Planning permission was granted by North Lincolnshire Council back in 2016.
On the zoo's Facebook page, a description says: "The primary aim is to offer something different to larger zoos and wildlife parks by focusing on close-up encounters with smaller, friendlier animals.
"Education forms a big part of what we want to deliver, teaching about animal care and welfare. The zoo is still being established but the vast majority of animals are now on display. New animal attractions are being added all the time as animals arrive."
