AN ISLE of Axholme cafe is enjoying the sweet taste of success – just six months after first opening.

Tiggy's Tea Room, in Epworth, is ranked number one on Trip Advisor out of all the places to eat in the town and has even been picked by the North Lincolnshire Tourist Board in its top five favourite places to eat.And Tiggy's is in good company – other restaurants and cafes included in their top five include Winteringham Fields and Pink Pig Farm.

The tea room is also ranked number 52 out of the whole of North Lincolnshire – ahead of the Hope and Anchor and San Pietro. Owner of the tea room, Amanda Benson, said the community's response has succeeded all her expectations.

She said: "Most people in our area have heard of Winteringham Fields and Pink Pig so I was really pleased to be picked by the tourist board.

"We have also been entered in the Teapot Trail for this season for Epworth and the cake we've entered is a raspberry white chocolate Belgian chocolate cake which is our best seller."Everything has gone so much better than I imagined.

"We wanted everything to do well but we had no idea how well it would be received because Epworth had quite a few tea rooms. We have a huge following – we are busy all the time; we have regular customers and we have people coming from York, Rotherham, Sheffield and Goole."

She added that part of her success was down to friendly customer service."From reviews on Trip Advisor and feedback everyone says, it's lovely and friendly.

"Whether I know the customer or not I always say 'good morning' and 'welcome'."It puts the customer at ease and then they talk to me."

Amanda also said that although she is happy with business at the moment, she wouldn't rule out expanding in the future.

She said: "We are so popular that some days I have people queuing out of the door for tables."In the future I may look to take on a bigger premises."
