North Lincolnshire wedding venue wins top regional award

A North Lincolnshire wedding venue has taken one of the top prizes in a quest to find the best in Britain.

And the success for Hirst Priory, near Crowle, has been put down to nominations from couples who have tied the knot at the venue in the last year.

The accolade for Wedding Venue of the Year (Countryside) for the Yorkshire and North-East region was announced on Monday at an awards ceremony in Leeds.

It comes only three years after the conversion of the 12th Century Priory into a venue for 120 guests.

And it was a first-time entry into the regional finals of the Wedding Industry Awards by managing director Hazel Wheatley and her team.

Afterwards, a delighted Mrs Wheatley said: "This is the first time Hirst Priory has entered these awards and we genuinely did not expect to win due to stiff competition from seven other excellent venues from around the region.

"We were delighted to be finalists in these leading wedding industry awards and went along to enjoy the atmosphere, make new contacts and learn from longer established wedding professionals how to do it.

"We were absolutely amazed when they called out our name and are so grateful to our wedding couples whose positive comments to the judges helped us win.

"It is a great recognition not just of us but of the efforts of our whole team including our excellent suppliers who all come together to make dreams a reality."

Mrs Wheatley added: "We love what we do at Hirst Priory and have a desire to see that our couples have the absolute best day of their lives.

"In making sure this happens we spend a lot of time getting to know them and this creates a relationship that carries on beyond the big day.

"I believe we won this award because of the kind words they passed on to the judges to describe how we helped them make their wedding day exactly what they wished for."

Now, Mrs Wheatley and her team are hoping to win the best countryside venue category in the national finals in London in January, which they have been entered into after winning the regional award.
