PD Ports launches recruitment drive at Groveport site

A recruitment drive has started for more operatives at the Groveport site at Gunness after the owners expressed their confidence in the future of the Trentside operation.
A spokeswoman for PD Ports in Middlesbrough said: "We are recruiting additional people as a direct result of the continued solid levels of activity and our confidence in both the business and its valued customers and stake-holders going forward".
Groveport covers 190 acres and provides nine berths with sea access via the Humber Estuary.
Its main business is in the export and import of steel products.
The closing date for applying for the jobs is March 24.
PD Ports which dates back to 1840 also runs operations in Immingham, Hull and Scunthorpe.
PD Ports bought Groveport in 2015 for an undisclosed sum.
The site was formerly owned by ex-Scunthorpe United FC chairman Steve Wharton who sold it in 2005 for a reported £25 million.
