Property firm centralises staff in Scunthorpe and opens in Epworth

SCUNTHORPE estate agent Paul Fox is to centralise his businesses in Scunthorpe and expand operations into Epworth.

A £100,000 investment will see Mr Fox move 30 staff members involved in commercial, sales and lettings next year into the former office of solicitors Sergeant and Collins, at the corner of Mary Street and Oswald Road.

Mr Fox, who started up his business 26 years ago, said he planned to retain the historic frontage of the building, which dates back to 1905.

He said: "We shall be offering people a different kind of estate agents."

It will prove to be a sentimental journey for the estate agent when he moves into the converted premises next year.

For he revealed his mother Betty, now aged 75, in the 1960s worked for Sergeant and Collins as an office cleaner.

Then, in 1978, his late wife Lynn gained her first job with the same firm as an 18-year-old secretary.

Tonight, a celebration will be taking place in the new office, a former hairdressing salon on Epworth High Street, employing three staff.

His son Ryan, 29, will take charge of the £50,000 operation.

Mr Fox said the firm's Brigg office would also be relocated at the end of March to new premises in Market Place.

It also has an office in Barton-Upon-Humber.
