EXPANDING law firm Wilkin Chapman opens the doors of the new Grimsby head office today, having received unprecedented recognition in four independent legal guides.
The company, which has taken occupancy of the new Cartergate development, achieved extraordinary success in 2016 on a national level, while also being recognised locally at the Northern Lincolnshire Business Awards.
The independent legal rankings, for which firms are nominated and cannot apply, recognised the growth of the firm, as well as the exceptional expertise of its solicitors.
It has most recently been recommended in five practice areas in the 2017 Chambers & Partners legal rankings. The highly respected legal directory, conducts research with both clients and fellow legal professionals to find the best law firms and solicitors globally. It also recognised three of the firm's solicitors in its highest Band One category, with more recognised in other bandings.
As previously reported it was described as a "regional heavyweight" by the Legal 500 law index, with 28 of its solicitors being named among the UK's leading industry professionals – a record number for the firm. Its newly opened Sheffield office also made the ranking in only its first year of operations. Additionally, for the first time in its history, the firm also saw its commercial property team shortlisted for the Regional Real Estate Legal 500 awards representing the East Midlands region. The shortlist is based on recommendations of the research team at the Legal 500, who are asked to nominate a firm they believe stood out above the rest.
The release of The Lawyer UK 200 rankings brought further success, as the firm was recognised as the 104th largest law firm in the UK, based on turnover. This is a move up of one position from 2015's result, when they were cited as 'one to watch'. 2016 however marked the first time the firm has broken into the Top 100 list by Legal Business 2016, ranking at number 97.
The Lex 100, the student guide to the UK's premier law firms, also recognised Wilkin Chapman for 'low stress levels' in the workplace.
Chief executive Des Mannion said: "I am absolutely delighted with the results which firmly reinstate our position as the largest law firm in the region. These latest rankings are a testament to the calibre of the team here at Wilkin Chapman, within which I am proud to work."
