Relax and recharge - hotel group welcomes electric vehicles

By Grimsby Telegraph | Posted: 22 Jan 2018

THE Oak Ridge Group is delighted to announce its commitment to low carbon emissions with a new service now available for all guests and residents to enjoy.

Both the Ashbourne Hotel in North Killingholme, and the Brackenborough Hotel in Louth have become Tesla Destination Charging Partners, joining only a handful of other properties in Lincolnshire offering the facility.

The Tesla Wall Connector is a complimentary amenity for all guests, allowing Tesla owners to charge their vehicles, while either dining in the restaurant or staying overnight. Not only do the hotels offer the facility as a benefit for Tesla vehicle owners, there are also second charging points available at each property – suitable for other electric vehicle models.

The dedicated Tesla charging points are visible in the car’s navigation system, and the service allows the driver the option of relaxing with a quick lunch while the car tops up on power.

Electric vehicles are continuing to grow at a rapid rate with car manufacturers such as Tesla Motors producing revolutionary, eco-friendly vehicles.

Oak Ridge Group chairman, Ashley Lidgard, said: “We are delighted to be a Tesla Charging Partner in Lincolnshire.

“In the most recent budget, the Government allocated around £500 million to encourage motorists to buy electric vehicles, and to improve the infrastructure for motorists who drive them. Therefore, it is important that as an industry, we embrace this green initiative. Following feedback from our guests, we felt this was a no brainer.

“We go to great lengths to add value to the experience and hospitality we provide at our hotels, and this seemed like a logical step, in a time when more and more people are looking to switch over to a ‘cleaner’ type of vehicle.”

Taking it a step further, the Oak Ridge Group is also assessing other services they offer the business traveller. Conscious of the growing demands on the corporate world, where ever more needs to be squeezed into each working day, the Oak Ridge Group has devised a convenient service.

The “Express Service” at both hotels, mainly targeting people dining on their lunch breaks, has been met with an enthusiastic response by local business clientele.  A simple idea in essence, addressing a vital need for anyone who needs to keep an eye on the time.  By simply emailing through a lunch order on the day of dining, with details of meal choices, numbers and timings, this ensures that your meal will be ready to leave the kitchen upon arrival.

Mr Lidgard said: “We’ve all been out for lunch on a one-hour break, only to anxiously watch the clock all the way through, wondering when the food will arrive.  Even if it comes fairly swiftly, it isn’t guaranteed, and defeats the object of that one-hour period of peace, leisure and relaxation that you were hoping to achieve by leaving the office in the first place!”

To obtain a copy of the Express Service order form, or to see the lunchtime menus, visit www.oakridgehotels.co.uk, or contact the Ashbourne on 01469 541010, or the Brackenborough on 01507 609169.
