Scunthorpe says goodbye to another shop in the town centre

By Scunthorpe Telegraph | Posted: 19 Mar 2017

ANOTHER shop in Scunthorpe town centre has served its last customer.

Deichmann Shoes in Cole Street announced last month it was having a closing down sale despite being in on-going talks with the unit's landlord in the hope that a solution could be found to avoid the store's closure.

Unfortunately those talks seem to have been unsuccessful after notices in the store informed customers yesterday (Saturday, March 18) that it was to be its last day of trading.

Last month a spokeswoman for Deichmann Shoes said: "I can confirm that Deichmann has served notice on our unit in the town centre of Scunthorpe but that negotiations are still on-going with the landlord and that we are trying our best to stay in Scunthorpe.

"We are very keen to find a solution as quick as possible."

The shoe company was unavailable for comment today.

Deichmann Shoes is the latest store to close in the town centre following the likes of Poundland and BHS.
