Scunthorpe store set to close down

A popular convenience store in Scunthorpe is set to close down at the end of this month.

Cottage Beck Convenience Store on Cottage Beck Road, which sells newspapers, magazines, lottery tickets, groceries, alcohol, cigarettes, frozen foods, confectionery and ice cream, will be shutting on Saturday, September 30.

The Premier-operated shop said the reason is due to ill health.

The store posted on Facebook: "Those of you who haven't heard already, due to ill health, we will be pulling the shutters for the final time on Saturday, September 30 and shutting up shop for good.

"We would like to take this opportunity to thank you all for your custom over the 14 years we have been here. I've made some good friends along the way and have loved being an important part of the local community.

"It's been a good craic with most, especially the locals (there's no other shopkeeper quite like me). However, health is wealth, so thanks again, best wishes to all and I'll be seeing ya."
