Social landlord Ongo now adds plumbing and heating businesses to its portfolio

EXPANSION plans continue to dominate the 10th anniversary celebrations for North Lincolnshire's biggest social landlord Ongo Homes.

The Scunthorpe-based housing association has now added a plumbing and heating company to its portfolio.

The investment comes hot on the heels of a decision to set up Ongo's first estate agency in vacant offices on Scunthorpe's Oswald Road.

The venture into plumbing and heating follows the acquisition of two-long established firms, Hales from Scunthorpe and Coultas from Barton-upon-Humber.

The new firm, to be called Hales and Coultas, will be based on Northampton Road, Scunthorpe.

Initially, there will be nine jobs led by a contracts manager but there are future plans for recruitment.

Pay rates are said to be confidential.

The brief for the staff will be to fit more 400 new boilers annually in Ongo properties.

Erika Stoddart, the director of resources at Ongo, said: "Staff from both of the companies have a long and successful track record in delivering good quality and fairly priced plumbing services. "When we were asked to consider working with them we considered it a perfect fit.

"With 10,000 homes across North Lincolnshire, we are required to carry out a large amount of heating installation work each year.

"Being able to deliver much of this work through our new company will provide us much better value for money.

"We will be delivering the same quality, local service to existing customers.

"By bringing everyone together in this way, we can secure a long term future for Hales and Coultas Heating and Plumbing and invest in the growth of the company in coming years."

Andy Coultas, the installations manager at Hales and Coultas, added: "Our partnership brings together a wealth of experience and skill, and with the added investment from Ongo, we are able to continue providing our customers with a reliable, local and quality service."

"We have also retained the very highest level of Worcester Bosch accreditation, with all the benefits that brings to customers, which is great news for the future of this new company."
