The best renewable energy jobs available in Hull including at Siemens, ABP and more

It is almost seven years since Siemens announced proposals to build a manufacturing plant on the east coast.

Fast forward to 2017 and the German engineering giant is already sending huge 75 metre blades from its Hull blade factory to offshore wind farms off the UK coastline.

Siemens' £160m Hull facility, which forms part of the £310m Green Port Hull complex at Alexandra Dock, has so far recruited about 800 people - 97 per cent of whom live within a 30-mile radius of the city.

But while Siemens might be regarded as a jewel in the city's renewables crown, there are many other Hull engineering firms and manufacturers growing and recruiting following the region's energy boom.

We take a look at some of the jobs available right now for people looking to move on and up in the energy industry and its supply chain.


Lead process and industrial engineer

The successful candidate will support the Hull blade factory in optimising its manufacturing processes. A varied role, with responsibilities ranging from the development and specification of materials, equipment and processes to testing equipment and processes.

Buyer - Indirect materials

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a strategic buyer to join Siemens' team in Hull. The successful candidate will have responsibility for the strategic procurement of factory supplies for its activities in the UK. The role includes managing the company's UK spend, strategic and tactical sourcing, supporting operations in the UK and driving improvement and collaborative working across teams.

Assembly operatives work alongside drilling operatives who drill holes into the newly painted blades, ready for the assembly operatives insert bolts and prepare the blade ready for shipping offshore.

Preparation operatives

Preparation operatives check and prepare the blade moulds ready for other team members to start working on them and they ensure that the large mandrel that fills the centre of the mould is prepared carefully and methodically checked.
