Vape Saloon in Prospect Street vows to help smokers quit and socialise

Bosses behind a new vape shop have vowed to help customers lay off the cigarettes after starting up their exciting new venture in Hull city centre.

Vape Saloon opened in Prospect Street on Saturday, March 11, after a four-week makeover and will offer people the chance to vape while grabbing a cup of coffee or one of the dozens of juices which available inside.

The Hull franchise, which is the seventh store to open and replaces Eden which closed in April last year due to a lack of footfall, will also give people the best advice on how to get the best out of their E-Cigarettes.

Alex Ballantyne, a senior manager for Vape Saloon, said: "We are very excited. This is a stunning looking shop and it's our biggest one yet – we hope it will draw in passers-by and customers from nearby shops.

"We are confident because we're going to do things a little differently. We have a very welcoming atmosphere and people can buy a coffee, try the juices and generally just sit and have a chat.

"To us it's more about the experience and we are more than happy to give people advice about giving up smoking."

Public Health England has said that vaping is 95 per cent less harmful than smoking cigarettes and the NHS has backed them as an aid to quitting.

However, other health experts have labelled them as dangerous.

Mr Ballantyne, who used to smoke 20 cigarettes a day, is championing the rationale of the NHS and urged smokers to come to them for advice on how to quit cigarettes through vaping.

"I don't think a vape shop is any different to having a tobacconist and there must have been hundreds of those around here in the last 50 years," he said.

"I think vaping is a fairly safe pastime and certainly safer than the alternative which is smoking. It has worked for all of us and we want it to work for you.

"It doesn't cost anything to have a look. If you are in the market for giving up smoking or you are already a vaper and need some new juice or advice on how to use it please come in and talk to us."

Kim, 31, is the manager of the new store. She also used to smoke 20 cigarettes a day but hasn't looked back after switching to E-Cigarettes five weeks ago.

"It's definitely the best thing I have ever done and I feel much better in myself. I've got more energy and I can run further too," she said.

"We can offer you advice. Nothing is unfixable and we have 30-day guarantees on all our products. All of our staff have been vaping for a long time so we will do our utmost to try and solve your problems.

"I am incredibly excited and I hope that the people of Hull will take to us being there."
