By Grimsby Telegraph | Posted: 24 Jul 2017

MANUFACTURERS here have seen the fastest growth in jobs of any UK region since 2010, a report released today has revealed .

The annual analysis – Regional Manufacturing Outlook – draws in survey data and the latest ONS figures.

It reveals that Yorkshire and the Humber now boasts 11,930 manufacturing businesses – with food and drink, metals and rubber and plastics the main sectors.

The rebound in the metals sector – the region’s second largest – has also provided further support to output growth in the last year, underlined with British Steel’s phenomenal first year.

Andy Tuscher, the northern Lincolnshire-based regional director of report author EEF, said: “Positive trends in UK manufacturing are being reflected here with our most important sectors driving growth.

Confidence across the region remains strong.

Uncertainty around the relationship with the EU could be however hampering investment, but overall the outlook is extremely positive.”
